Rating Criteria

At FPSLabs we know that giving you numbers or grades without telling you what they mean isn’t enough. That is why we have created and will continue to refine our official Rating Criteria. This information will be a permanent fixture on the site, and can be updated easily should that necessity arise.

9.5 to 10 Superb

Product represents the pinnacle of technology and/or performance in its particular price range or market sector.

9.0 to 9.5 Great

Product excels at its purpose and is in the top flight compared with immediate competition. Must have impressed the author to achieve this rating.

8.0 to 9.0 Good

Solid product that both does a good job at what it does and is better than some of its competitors.

7.0 to 8.0 Average

Just another keyboard. Just another mouse. Nothing spectacular to report. Product does a good job at what it does. Brings nothing new to the table. Worth the money, but maybe not the best you can get.

6.0 to 7.0 Disappointing

For a product that did not perform as well as expected when expectations were drawn from hype or reasonable speculation. Also for products that don’t quite fall into the ‘Average’ category.

4.0 to 6.0 Poor

This section is reserved for a product that performs much worse and costs significantly more than its competition.

0 to 4.0 Lousy

Product demonstrates very little relevance to the hardware scene. This particular product might not work, and if it does its capabilities are limited and less than advertised.
